WEAVING WORKSHOP
01.03.25
2:30pm - 5:00pm
18 Ritchie Ave, Blairgowrie VIC 3942
Join Mornington Peninsula-based weaver Emma Shepherd of Sundance Studio for a meditative workshop exploring the art of weaving on a frame loom.
Participants will learn the basic principles of weaving and have the chance to experiment with texture and colour in the form of interesting yarns, and will gain the knowledge, skills and materials to pursue the craft at home. In this 2.5 hour workshop, you will learn how to set up the warp, use different colours to create shapes and patterns in the weft, experiment with texture, as well as different methods to finish the weaving.
Weaving is a slow and repetitive process, and is a lovely way to create, relax and immerse oneself in a tactile creative activity.
What’s included?
A frame loom, 25cm x 35cm.
A curated range of natural materials (linen/silk/wool/cotton) to use on the day, as well as extra materials to complete your weaving at home.
2 x wooden needles.
A wooden comb.
A comprehensive instruction booklet including resources and inspiration.

Note: If you’d like to attend the Poetry Circle afterwards, you are more than welcome to relax at Camillo House between 5pm and 6pm. You might like to bring additional food (refrigeration facilities available).
